WARRINGTON’S Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School played host to Lord Michael Storey, the Liberal Democrat spokesman for education in the House of Lords.
The former Lord Mayor of Liverpool met GCSE Citizenship pupils in years 10 and 11 and representatives from The Challenge Academy Trust to talk about the work and role of the House of Lords.
The aim was to encourage pupils to become more engaged with the political and Parliamentary process.
After a talk and question and answer session with Lord Storey, Kate Coleclough, head of RS, PSHE and Citizenship at the school, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to interact with someone who knows the Parliamentary system inside out, as it can sometimes seem far removed from their daily lives.
“But today they have had a thorough insight into the workings of Westminster.”
