Indiscriminate car parking during school pick up leads to proposed no waiting restrictions on Cromwell Avenue

0

INDISCRIMINATE car parking during school pick up outside St Gregory’s High School has resulted in proposed no waiting restrictions on Cromwell Avenue, Great Sankey, Warrington.

Site observations have revealed indiscriminate parking during school pick up and drop off periods on A574 Cromwell Avenue which is a strategic route and Peace Drive.
Warrington Borough Council highway planners say the proposed measures are deemed necessary to manage this parking and to encourage additional active travel trips and promote the safety of pupils on their journeys to and from school.

It is therefore proposed to introduce ‘No waiting at any time and no loading/unloading at any time’ restrictions on Cromwell Avenue and sections of Canons Road, Waterways and Cromwell Avenue South. In addition, bus stops have been reviewed, and a bus stop clearway is proposed within the bus lay-bys on the eastern and western side of Cromwell Avenue and north side of Canons Road to ensure that it is kept free of parked vehicles with the exception of buses.
