THE rugby community in Warrington has rallied for the family and friends of a 12-year-old girl from Great Sankey, who died suddenly at the weekend.

A crowd-funding page set up by Warrington Girls Community Rugby League Club to support the family has already raised over £5,000.
Warrington Girls Community Rugby League Club posted a tribute on the fundraising page stating:

“It is with profound sadness and the heaviest of hearts that we share the devastating news of the passing of our dear Laura from the Under 12s team.
“Laura was a truly bright light within our Warrington Girls Rugby League family. She was known for her incredible spirit, infectious laughter, and her immense talent on the rugby pitch. She truly was the life and soul of the Under 12s, and her potential as a player was clear for all to see. We cherished watching her play and seeing her vibrant smile.
This is an incredibly difficult time for Laura’s family, her teammates, coaches, and everyone who knew her at the club. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies are with her loved ones.
Laura will always be a part of our team, forever in our hearts. As a club, we want to honour her memory and provide support where it is most needed.
This JustGiving page has been set up for anyone who wishes to make a donation in Laura’s memory. All funds raised will go directly to support Laura’s family during this incredibly difficult time.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help provide comfort and support to her loved ones.
Thank you for your kindness, your support, and for helping us remember our wonderful Laura #forever8.”

Crosfields Rugby also posted their own tribute stating:

“I can’t believe I’m typing this post, I am very sorry to be passing on this news, we at Crosfields are deeply saddened and absolutely devastated and heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of our ex young players Laura.
Laura played at Crosfields from the minute she was old enough to, until the end of her U11’s season last year, when she had to move to an all girls team. She went to Warrington Girls, so she could continue to play at Crosfields.
Laura was a fierce competitor on the pitch and certainly showed the boys how it was done from the second she burst on to the rugby scene.
She’s also very kind, gentle and caring. Always a pleasure to be around, no matter what the result she would always go over to the opposition and their coaches and shake their hands, showing true sportsmanship.
Laura we can’t tell you how much you will be missed not only by your current team but all of us here as well.
We are sending our heartfelt condolences to her whole family and all her friends, coaches, players and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
You’ll always be our #8 Vipers
RIP Laura 💔💔

A Cheshire Police spokesperson confirmed:“Police and paramedics attended the scene, and a 12-year-old girl was taken to Warrington Hospital.
“Sadly, despite the best efforts of all those involved, the girl was later pronounced dead.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious, and a case file will be prepared for the coroner.”
