More heritage road works scheduled for Grappenhall village

UP to three weeks of road closures are scheduled for ongoing heritage works on Church Lane, Grappenhall, next month, August.

The works are scheduled to start on August 11 as part of continuing works to Heritage Area reconstructing and relaying cobbled road surface, including work to improve drainage.

Warrington Borough Council has given notice it intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway on Church Lane from its junction with Broad Lane to its junction with Glebe Avenue.
The Order will be effective from 11th August 2025. The restrictions are for a period of 3 weeks, however, will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Church Lane, A56 Chester Road, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa or via Broad Lane, Grappenhall Lane, A50 Cliff Lane, A50 Knutsford Road, Bellhouse Lane and vice versa. The restrictions are required to allow continuing works to Heritage Area reconstructing and relaying cobbled road surface, including work to improve drainage.
