Road closure for up to two weeks for power cable upgrade at Woolston

A road closure of up to two weeks is set to come into force on Gigg Lane, Woolston, next month (August) to allow Scottish Power to carry out a cable upgrade.

The road closure will be on Gigg Lane Northbound from its junction with Manchester Road to its junction with Mawdsley Avenue.
Warrington Borough Council has given Notice, the Council intends to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Gig Lane (northbound traffic) from its junction with Manchester Road to its junction with Mawdsley Avenue.
The Order will be effective from 4th August 2025. The closure is for a period of 2 weeks; however, it will be in place as and when signed on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Manchester Road, Dam Lane and Gig Lane. The closure is required to allow Scottish Power to carry out a cable upgrade.
