MAYOR of Warrington Cllr Mo Hussain and Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols joined in the fun as villagers celebrated 100 years of Croft Carnival.
A parade through the village, which included a procession of tractors, was followed by further celebrations on the Croft Playing Field.
Mayor of Warrington Cllr Mo Hussain said: “It was a real honour to attend this amazing event today — especially as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of this wonderful community tradition.
“Having had the pleasure of attending last year as Deputy Mayor, I was absolutely delighted to return this year as Mayor of Warrington, to mark such a special milestone.
“For a century, Croft Carnival has brought people together — families, friends, neighbours — to celebrate all that makes this area so special. It’s a shining example of the strength, warmth, and pride within our communities.
“A huge thank you to all the organisers, volunteers, and local groups whose hard work keeps this cherished tradition going strong.
“Whether it’s the parade, the entertainment, the stalls — or simply the chance to catch up with loved ones — there’s something here for everyone.
“Here’s to Croft Carnival – and to the next 100 years of celebration and community spirit!”
Meanwhile, Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols commented: “Happy 100th birthday to Official Croft Carnival! In its centenary year, it’s amazing to see the community support still going strong and to have the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Mo Hussain, come along to officially open the event.
“I especially loved seeing the history tent showing the carnival through the years, with old photos and newspaper articles. Thank you to the Croft History Society for all their work in the archives, pulling this together! Did you know, for example, in 1983, there was a Ministry of Defence investigation into the carnival in a row over the Culcheth Peace Group?
“Alongside some great food and catching up with various friends and constituents, I made it a (just about respectable) 28 seconds on the Culcheth Eagles hanging man challenge, and won a banana on the Culcheth and District Rotary Human Fruit Machine- always one of my favourite stalls in carnival season!
“Thank you to everyone who made the afternoon such a success, and here’s to Croft Carnival’s next 100 years!”
