School boundary plan is deferred

PLANNING chiefs have put off a decision on proposals for new boundary fencing at a Warrington Primary School for a second time.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee deferred a decision to allow time to investigate the possibility of replacing existing old boundary walls at Beamont Primary School with walls built using reclaimed brick.
They are concerned that the proposed 2.4 metre high mesh fencing will be out of character with the area in O’Leary Street.
On the first occasion the matter was deferred, it was to allow time for consideration to be given to retaining or restoring more of the original school wall.
The plan currently involves complete demolition of the old walls in O’Leary Street, Garner Street and Wilkinson Street.
The main school building is locally listed and within the grounds of the school there are also a children’s centre and a nursery school.   The school is surrounded by residential property.
