AS the curtain comes down on our 25th anniversary of publishing Warrington Worldwide, it is time to reflect on another year in Warrington – a year of change.

These are the words of council leader Cllr. Hans Mundry, who has been working to reduce the council’s huge debt made up of massive loans to generate additional revenues to cover Government shortfalls in funding.
While the early signs are promising there is a still a long way to go to balance the books, if indeed they will ever be balanced.
What with the cost-of-living crisis and another difficult year ahead financially for many, the council is looking at closing some services to help reduce the debt, while also selling off some assets.
I am told no decisions have been taken yet on which services will close but I understand some community facilities are under threat.
Tough times require tough decisions – watch this space!
