VIDEO: ONE year on from taking over as Leader of Warrington Borough Council, Cllr. Hans Mundry spoke exclusively to Warrington Worldwide to deliver a Christmas message.

Since taking over the reins last December Cllr Mundry says there has been a change of leadership, change of direction and change in fortune.”

The council’s level of debt has already been reduced ahead of schedule by over £500m with more to come.

He says Warrington is still going through a tough time like many other authorities and while some assets are being sold, they will be sold at the “right price at the right time.”

Cllr Mundry said: “We are well ahead of schedule.”
He also justified the recent decision following independent advice to increase allowances of Cllrs, which remain less than neighbouring authorities.
“Why should we undervalue our councillors?” he said.
In his Christmas message to local residents, he said the council was doing its utmost to deliver a prosperous new year so people can enjoy their lives in Warrington.
