A team from Birchwood company Morgan Professional Services (MPS) has raised £3,000 for international charity WaterAid by taking on the Severn Trent Cycle Challenge, a long distance sponsored cycling event through the Peak District.
The team presented a giant cheque to WaterAid representative Felix Mindham to mark their achievement.
“We went into the challenge with the aim of raising as much money as possible for WaterAid,” says MPS director George McBride, one of the team members. “It was good to meet Felix and to find out from her how our donation will help support WaterAid’s important work.”
The seven MPS cyclists tackled a challenging course through the Peak District to raise money for WaterAid, the international charity which provides safe water, effective sanitation and hygiene education to the world’s poorest people.
Consultant Adrian Jones and engineering director Alastair McDougall both completed the full 60-mile Cycle Challenge route while other team members clocked up more than 40 miles each.
The seven-strong MPS team raised the £3,000 sum through sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues including a £1,000 donation from MPS, which provides design, engineering and project management services, with local offices at Birchwood Boulevard, Birchwood, Warrington.
The MPS team members were operations manager Robin Cross; directors David Rycroft, George McBride, John Howard and David Hammond; consultant Adrian Jones and engineering director Alastair McDougall.
