A new play area costing in excess of £200,000 has been given the green light at Culcheth.

The new play area on Culcheth Green will be jointly funded by Culcheth & Glazebury Parish Council and Warrington Borough Council.

Parish councillor Pete Holmes said: “The Parish Council acknowledges that this has taken longer than anticipated, due to myriad reasons, and no doubt all residents are aware of the cost of living and inflation, and the challenges that such things bring to capital projects. Notwithstanding this, it should be noted that locally over the past few years we have been successful in several capital projects with the borough council, which have included;

1.The redevelopment on Shaw Street
2.The improved drainage to Culcheth Green
3.The Mee Brow play area
4.The renovations to the play area in Glazebury
5.The library renovation which is due to begin shortly

Chair of the Parish Council, Cllr Neil Johnson stated: “I am delighted that this project has been given the green light, and we can now move it forward, have it designed, and built as soon as possible. It is great news for Culcheth and local children, and further investment in our area.”

  1. Great news about a new play area for Culcheth but could you not incorporate seating for families and my dream of a bandstand now that the green has been drained — it could encourage all sorts of activity summer and winter.

  2. Reading in another periodical it has been reported that Warrington Borough Council have cut their share of funding by 50% putting the scheme in Jeopardy
