ON the first day of a COVID-19 community vaccination programme organised by Orford Pharmacy more than 400 vulnerable people received their first vaccine.

Based at the Warrington Islamic Association premises on Lockton Lane, Bewsey, Warrington, the first day of vaccinating has been described a huge success as Pharmacy staff managed to vaccinate a total of 422 patients within the community.
A spokesperson for Orford Pharmacy said: “We believe we are making a huge difference to the vulnerable by providing a safe, local and convenient place to get their jab.
Janet Miller, pictured below, was the first to receive her jab at the Vaccine Centre. She said: “The service was great. I was made to feel at ease and safe while visiting Orford Pharmacies vaccination centre.”
Local MP Charlotte Nichols sent a message of support saying: “Fantastic news! Thank you to our incredible community pharmacists for their support in the national vaccination effort!”
Other comments received included “First class service” & “straightforward booking system” from several patients.
The spokesperson added: “Hearing this from our community makes us incredibly proud as we were only given less than a week to set up the centre, which was a long process but worth it in the
end.
“When setting up the site, we had to apply to NHS England and provide a suitable site to carry out the vaccination. It was quite a strict process of application. Once we completed that, we
designed the vaccination centre ourselves, which went through a series of checks with the CCG, and with the council, to make sure everything was viable and safe to operate.”
The centre is currently booked up and only deals with people who have received confirmation they can have a vaccination.
