Youth musical theatre group production brings Spongebob to life

Warrington-based youth musical theatre group, CODYS Productions, are making a return to the Brindley Theatre stage in September to perform The Spongebob Musical.

CODYS meets on Saturday mornings in central Warrington and members are age 10-18.  It is also a registered charity and has a long history of producing top quality musicals  – CODYS will be celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026.
The Spongebob Musical was first performed on Broadway in 2017 and achieved 12 Tony nominations.  It follows SpongeBob SquarePants’ attempts to avert a volcanic eruption that could potentially wipe out all life in Bikini Bottom.  This family friendly musical features tunes by artists such as John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Panic at The Disco, Plain White Ts, Yolanda Adams, The Flaming Lips and David Bowie.
CODYS are hoping to replicate the success of their last musical at the Brindley, Wind In the Willows, which won Best Youth Musical in the local NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) awards for 2024.
A CODYS representative said “We are thrilled to be putting on such a fabulous show for the Brindley audiences – our members have been working incredibly hard and you’re guaranteed a good night out with Spongebob, Patrick, Gary, Sandy and all your Bikini Bottom favourites.”

The Spongebob Musical is at The Brindley Theatre:
