THE police helicopter was used to direct emergency services following concerns for the welfare of a man who entered the Manchester Ship Canal at Stockton Heath on Saturday evening.
Police supported by Cheshire Fire & Rescue and ambulance crews, were able to engage with the man who was safely recovered from the water and taken to hospital.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: “At around 8.30pm on Saturday, June 28, police were called to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man in Warrington.
“Officers conducted a search of the area, and the man was located in the water in Manchester Ship Canal in Wilderspool, Warrington.
“Police were supported by fire and ambulance crews, and the man was safely recovered from the water.
“Officers engaged with the man, and he was taken to hospital.
“The police helicopter assisted in the search and directed emergency services to the exact location.”
