Appeal following “sophisticated” burglary at industrial premises

POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary at an industrial unit in Warrington, involving the theft of a large amount of computer equipment, including hard drives, memory devices and laptop computers.

The incident occurred at a unit on the Trident Industrial Estate, Birchwood, sometime between 6.30pm on Friday 11th December and 8.00am on Monday 14th December.

The offenders have accessed the site by using a cutting device to cut a hole in a perimeter fence. Once inside the site they have then cut a hole in the outer steel sheet of the building, allowing them to access the premises.

Once inside the building the offenders have stolen a large amount of computer equipment.

Investigating officer DC Maggie Cassidy said: “This is an extremely sophisticated incident and I am keen to hear from anyone that they may have seen anything suspicious.

“The offenders will have required a variety of different tools to enable them to undertake this crime and I believe that people who were in the area at the time may have information that could assist our enquiries.”
