Flood warnings lifted but more bad weather to come!

FLOOD warnings have been lifted across Warrington as clean up operations started today – but Yellow weather warnings are in place for Wednesday, with the Met Office warning of severe weather and strong winds.

Meanwhile clean up operations have started in areas of Warrington which have been badly affected by flooding, including the Densham Avenue area of Orford, Warrington.
Some roads are still flooded with others affected by debris.

Firefighters responded to flooding on Densham Avenue and crews worked throughout the night to deal with the rising flood water. They used special pumps to get rid of some of the water that was impacting on about 20 homes.

Some people were evacuated to a safe place as the water continued to rise.

The situation had improved this morning and there was signs that the water levels were dropping.

Local councillor Mike Hannon, who was out last night and earlier today surveying the situation, has asked for council sweeping vehicles to attend to clear up the debris.

He said he had asked for road closures to remain in place as speeding motorists had been causing “tidal waves!”

Two horses also had to be rescued from flooded land at Longshaw Street.

At Massey Brook, Lymm, a water main had collapsed in the road and the water levels were rising effecting eight homes.

Crews attempted to divert the water and used special equipment to pump the flood away from the houses. They worked alongside other agencies until about 8pm. The collapsed main resulted in hundreds of homes being left without water.
