OFSTED praise for Woolston Primary

WOOLSTON Primary has been praised by inspectors after jumping a whole grade in its latest OFSTED inspection.
The school, which at its last inspection was graded inadequate, has shown “promise for the future” based on “improving rates of progress evidenced this year” according to inspectors, resulting in an improved overall grading of satisfactory/requires improvement.
Warrington Borough Council’s executive board member for children and young people’s services, Cllr Colin Froggatt, said: “To achieve this degree of improvement in a period of twelve months is an achievement. We congratulate the head and the whole staff, the governors, the parents and carers and most of all the children for all their hard work in taking the school forward together.”
The inspectors also noted that there had been “significant improvement identified” in teaching, and that some of the teaching is now graded outstanding, noting that in key stages 1 and 2, progress is improving sharply due to improvements in teaching.
Headteacher Mr Nick Toyne said: “This school year has been one of great change. The outcome is now a school that is unrecognisable from the one a year ago. Children are now in a school with much more focused and effective teaching and learning. Children are making accelerated progress throughout at rates that have not been seen before. Pupils are working harder and achieving better and they tell us and others that lessons are more enjoyable and they learn much more than previously.
“I would like to thank all parents and carers for their continued support. As a school we are quickly improving. Pupils are making rapid progress and will continue to do so. The overall standards of teaching are now better than they have been for some time and will continue improve at a greater pace.”
