A MAN was attacked by three thugs in his own home at Warrington – but eventually put the intruders to flight.
The incident was at a property in Killingworth Lane, Birchwood.
Now police are appealing for information about the attempted robbery which occurred around 7pm on Monday.
Three men entered the property through an insecure door and confronted the occupier, a 53-year-old man.
They demanded the keys to a car parked on the driveway outside.
The householder attempted to push the offenders outside, repeatedly telling them to leave. There was a scuffle and the householder was punched in the throat.
But all three offenders eventually fled the scene empty handed, running back up Killingworth Lane.
DC Ben McKay-Smith said: “The victim was not injured but understandably was left very shaken by his ordeal. We are investigating what happened and are piecing together as much information as possible in a bid to trace those responsible.
“We would appeal to anyone who has any information about the incident itself or knows the identity of the offenders or may have seen them leaving the scene to get in touch.”
One of the offenders was in his mid-20s, about 6ft 3 inches tall and of stocky build. He spoke with a local accent, was clean shaven and was wearing a black open faced balaclava, a bright yellow high-vis vest over a dark grey jacket, charcoal coloured trousers and black heavy duty boots.
Another was also in his mid-20s, around 5ft 11 inches tall and of medium build. He was wearing a black open faced balaclava, a black jacket, black trousers and black heavy duty shoes.
Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 or the confidential Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
