A WARRINGTON college has been recognised for its efforts in reducing energy consumption at a national awards ceremony.
Warrington Collegiate won the award for Best Energy Efficiency Project at the National Tech World Awards in London, which recognise products and users for innovations in the IT and technology industry.
The college’s IT services and facilities departments implemented new programmes which resulted in a significant reduction in operating power. A total reduction of 24 tonnes of carbon emissions was achieved, significantly reducing the college’s environmental impact.
The college was also recognised with a Regional Support Centre Recognition of Innovation Award in Manchester for its work in improving energy efficiency and commitment to sustainable environmental practice.
Nick Smeltzer, director of IT Services at the Collegiate, said: “We have worked very hard to develop sustainable practices for the future. At the college we are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint and absolutely over the moon with the results of the new programmes we’ve put in place.”
