New group to sing for fun

NEW community singing group Wired for Sound is to hold its first “Sing for Fun” day on September 17
Formed in January, the group was born out of an evening class run by Warrington Borough Council at the Pyramid and was previously known as Pyramid Sound.
Now they are independent and meet on Tuesday evenings at The Friend’s Meeting House, Buttermarket Street from 7.30pm-9pm.
The group is led by trained music leader Marc Jenyon.
Chairman Eleanor Haines said: “We hope our first Sing for Fun event will be an exhilarating day of harmony singing where participants will learn easy Gospel songs especially arranged for voice only, all taught by ear with no need to read music.
“No previous experience is needed and there will be no auditions and no individual singing. The cost for the day will be £15 and will include refreshments and lunch.
“We have high hopes that we will be able to increase the number of people who join us as we all thoroughly enjoy the sessions and several of us feel we have benefited both physically and mentally from the chance to work together with such a sociable group.”
Cost of membership is normally £5-a-week, or £3.50 for people who pay for a block of six weeks. There are no auditions and anyone aged 14-plus can join.
Anyone interested can call Eleanor on 07909 922241 or Christine on 07528 342274 or email [email protected]
