PEOPLE in Warrington are being reminded to register so that they do not miss out on voting in the May elections.
The Electoral Commission estimates that more than 3.5 million people in the country may not be registered to vote including more than half of 17-25 year olds.
Local elections take place on Thursday May 5. The borough council holds its elections in thirds, so there are elections each year in different wards.
This year residents in all wards except Hatton, Stretton and Walton, Poulton South and Westbrook will be taking to the ballot boxes.
People can register to vote of they are 16 years old or over (though they cannot vote until they are 18), a British citizen or an Irish, Commonwealth or European Union citizen who is resident in the UK.
Further details are available from the council’s electoral services team on 01925 442184 or by email at [email protected] Forms can also be collected from the Town Hall or Contact Warrington. People can also apply using the same methods for a postal vote.
