Was this bike made in Warrington?

A BICYCLE enthusiast from Norway has contacted Warrington-Worldwide seeking information about a bike apparently made in Warrington.
Olav Andreas Royland bought the machine from a girl in Norway.
It bears a plate with the word “Warrington” on it – apparently meaning it was manufactured in the town.
There is also a model number which, although indistinct, appears to be 174 and the word “Special.”
The Warrington name is superimposed on a wheel image.
Olav says the girl he bought the bike from remembers her mother cycling in the 1960s and he believes the machine might have been made some time between 1940 and 1960.
He has searched biking websites in Norway but has not been able to find any information.
Olav added: “Can anyone tell me anything about this bike? When it was produced? Is it an original?”
Paul Adams, owner of the cycle museum in Warrington’s Walton Gardens, is intrigued by the find – but has never heard of a bicycle manufacturer in the Warrington area.
He said: “I will do some research – it’s a fascinating discovery.”
