Higher 'phone mast planned

MOBILE ‘phone giant Telefonica O2 are seeking permission to replace a 12.5 meter high mast on a traffic island at Warrington with one two and-a-half meters higher.
The mast is located on a roundabout at the junction of Capesthorne Road and Poplars Avenue, Orford.
Planning chiefs will consider the proposal this week – and officers are recommending it be approved.
The mast is intended to serve two operators – O2 and Vodaphone, will improve network coverage and will reduce the need for another mast in the vicinity.
Officers say that overall, the mast would not seriously harm the street scene.
The mast would allow shared coverage of the required area with existing masts at Winwick Quay, following the de-commissioning of an existing mast at St Stephen’s Church, Sandy Lane, Orford.
No objections have been received to the proposal.
