Opposition to plans for bar restaurant

NEIGHBOURS, nearby residents and councillors have lodged objections to plans for a bar restaurant at Culcheth.
The plans involve a change of use of an existing retail hi-fi shop in Lodge Drive.
Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council has lodged objections as have seven neighbours and occupiers of the nearby Gilbert Court apartment block.
The objections relate to fears of noise, disturbance, anti-social behaviour, parking problems and damage to residential amenity through longer opening hours.
Applicants Barry and Jane Tuffs say they want to operate as a café/restaurant during the day, with evenings and weekends focussing on operating as a bar with a small range of cold food.
No external alterations or extensions to the unit are proposed other than repainting the shop front and new signage, which would be subject to a separate application.
Planning officers say the proposal is an appropriate use in a sustainable location, accessible by public transport, walking and cycling and with adequate car parking immediately in front of the site and close by
They do not believe the scheme would have a detrimental impact on the amenities of any adjoining occupiers.
