STUDENTS at Warrington Collegiate showed off their work to friends, family and visitors at their end of year art exhibition.
The exhibition runs till the end of term and includes a variety of art work including painting, pen and ink, sculpture, textiles and photography, even a live model.
On the night 19 year old Art and Design student, Michael Rice from Padgate, wore part of his exhibit, appearing as the caped crusader, mingling with the visitors, to the delight of the younger visitors.
Emma Bromley, 17, from Stockton Heath, created a vision of colour using powder paint in a wide variety of ways, displayed in numerous different media from photography to canvas. One set of photographs showing the human body used as a canvas. In a stunning film show Emma projected images onto a coloured background showing how she created her photo montage.
Emma said: “It’s really great to have an exhibition to display my work. I chose the theme of colours and really wanted to convey just how much colour is all around us. I decided to use powder paint in lots of different ways such as blowing, painting and throwing at the canvas. In the photos I used family and friends as models and we had lots of fun creating some really stunning images. Everyone was thrilled with the result.”
Emma is progressing onto the Foundation Year in Art and Design at Warrington Collegiate before applying to university to study Photography.
Art and design student, Hannah Heath, from Dallam, took three weeks to create a fascinating collage which drew many admiring comments from visitors.
Hannah said: “I wanted to create a college that shows the four years of my work at Warrington Collegiate. It’ primarily a textile piece, with hand stitching as well as fancy stitching on a machine, using photographs from my sketch book. My favorite part was putting it all together, seeing it revealed as a celebration of my time at Warrington Collegiate.”
The 20-year-old is hoping to get an apprenticeship with Warrington Collegiate so she can continue her artistic developing work that she can sell. In preparation she has already created a studio for herself at home.
Helen McNicholas, Lecturer in Art and Design at Warrington Collegiate, added: “I have no doubt that Hannah will become well-known as a talented local artist in the future. Her retrospective piece is about her previous work as well as looking forward to moving on to the next stage in her artistic career. It has attracted a lot of interest with several visitors enquiring if they could buy it.”
Art and design student Todd Burns, aged 17 from Croft, was delighted with his first exhibition. With a strong interest in fashion Todd created photos, a blogg and a row of tie-dye tee shirts in a multitude of colours.
He said: “My piece is about inspiring people to create their own clothing at affordable prices. I wanted to showcase my own designs with a blogg so that people could interact with my art and we could get a dialogue going about fashion, design and education.”
After completing his studies at Warrington Collegiate Todd will progress onto University to study Fashion.
Becky Rogers, Lecturer in Art and Design and Fashion says, “We are really proud of our students, this is a fantastic multi-media exhibition of student work. For many this is their first exhibition, the stepping stone into the creative industries and the standard of individual work is extremely high.”
