POLICE have recovered a number of items belonging to Warrington Paralympic gold medallist Adrian Derbyshire (pictured) which were stolen at the weekend.
Officers out on patrol last night (Tuesday) discovered a bag containing the specialist fencing gear at a car park in Lilford Avenue, Bewsey at around 8pm. Enquiries are continuing.
Police have yet to confirm whether all the stolen items have been recovered but once they have been checked for forensic evidence they will be returned to the 38-year-old fencing star.
Warrington Police appealed for information after the equipment was taken from a garage in Leicester Street over the weekend.
The items, which also include tracksuits, a wheelchair battery and wheels are valued at £20,000 to £30,000. The equipment was specially tailored to Adrian’s requirements.
A 33-year-old man from Old Hall in Warrington and a 34-year-old man, from Great Sankey were arrested the same day and have subsequently appeared before magistrates charged with burglary. A third man, aged 35, was released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Police have stressed that some of the stolen equipment could still be missing.
