THE 60th annual Thelwall Rose Queen Festival will take place on Saturday June 21 – with Emilia Passey being crowned as Rose Queen.

Emilia, an 11-year-old pupil at High Legh Primary School, will lead this year’s festivities with the support of her retinue.
Lola Chappel, Ava Butler, Sophie Bennion Jessica Williams, Layla McDowell and Amala McDowell will be her attendants, Josh Shaw will be Crown Bearer and soldiers Wilf Cullen, Elijah Guite, Alexander Bossward, Hewie McGrane and Toby McGrane will stand guard for the parade.
Emilia is excited to be starting at Lymm High School in September. She leads a busy and active life, with a deep passion for dance and animals. She takes weekly horse riding lessons at High Legh Riding Centre and attends several dance classes with the Joanne Elaine School of Dance.

Emilia is also a dedicated member of Thelwall Girl guiding, participating from Rainbows all the way through to Guides.
A true animal lover, she shares her home with seven family pets and dreams of one day becoming a country vet, allowing her to combine her career with her love of animals.

There is a strong family legacy behind Emilia’s crowning, with many of her aunts, uncles, and cousins having taken part in the Thelwall Rose Queen celebrations over the years, whether in the retinue or on the floats.
This year’s festival theme is “Heroes and Villains”. The colourful procession will begin at 1pm from Thelwall Parish Hall, with the crowning ceremony to follow on Chaigley Field.
