A plan to extend Lymm Truckwash on green belt land near the Moto motorway Service Station has been approved by Warrington planners.
The proposal involves the extension of the existing Truckwash facility to provide two additional wash bays, staff parking, plant room with associated additional queuing facility and HGV Turning Circle at site entrance.
Previous expansion plans have been rejected in the past.
Once again there was oppsition to the plan with letters of objection received from 15 addresses, 14 are neighbouring residential properties.
Objectors said uincreasing capacity at the truckwash directly conflicts with safety and efficiency of the transport network, congestion, reducing carbon, improving air quality and sustainable transport. It does not give priority to walking and cycling, and limited public transport. It has an adverse impact on local highway network and local community. By their own admission, the current operation is unsafe.
The nearby Moto (Lymm Truck Stop) also objected saying it was Green Belt site, inappropriate development is harmful by definition. A previous appeal found additional development and lighting on this site harmful to openness and no very special circumstances justified the harm because truck washing facilities are available at Moto across the road.
Letters of support were received from 26 addresses and three individuals, stating it was a family owned company, providing essential services for the critical workers of the country, without which, the country could not function and would have supply chain problems.
The expansion would bring investment into the community and employment opportunities. Nineteen haulage businesses also fully supported this application.
Warrington Borough Council planners approved the truckwash application subject to various conditions saying the development proposed represents an efficient use of land and would enable the business to manage its own impacts; reducing the potential for HGV’s queuing on the local road network.
Potential impact on neighbour’s residential amenity and local environment would be similar to existing.
