Awards for peer mentors

A GROUP of seven people from Warrington who have overcome substance abuse problems have gained an award so they can help others facing addiction.
The peer mentors from the CRI Pathways project have completed an Open College Networks accredited training programme. They can now help others facing drug addiction and may use their qualification to find paid work.
A graduation ceremony was held at the Town Hall where they were congratulated by Cllr Pat Wright, the borough council’s executive member for health and wellbeing and adult services.
Executive director of neighbourhood and community services Joe Blott presented the graduates with their certificates.
Many of the new peer mentors have already found employment in a range of organisations and different fields.
The CRI Pathways project in Warrington works to help people in their recovery and rehabilitation from substance misuse. This can have a positive impact on the local community by helping to reduce crime, reduce costs to the health service and by reuniting families.
