Big-hearted bikers raise funds for suicide prevention charity

AROUND 60 big-hearted bikers raised nearly £1,000 in aid of PAPYRUS prevention of young suicide, with a charity motorcycle ride from Warrington motorcycle dealership In2moto to the Lion Salt Works, near Northwich.

Following previously successful charity rides, Cheshire motorcyclist Phil Hesmondhalgh and Andria Jones from local Warrington motorcycle dealership In2Moto, decided this year to organise one in support of PAPYRUS the Warrington-based UK charity dedicated to the prevention of suicide and the promotion of positive mental health and emotional wellbeing in young people. The motorcycle ride was just one element of an all day event that consisted of live music, great food, a free raffle and demo rides on the latest bikes by motorcycle manufacturer, Voge.
Helped by fantastic weather and the opportunity to support the charity, riders began to gather throughout the morning at In2moto on Fennel Street for the 1pm ride.
The dealership’s car park was packed with an impressive collection of motorbikes from Harley Davidson, Royal Enfield, Ducati, Triumph and even an eye-popping customised chopper. From 10am to 12noon Radio Warrington’s Kevin Farrell hosted his morning show from the dealership, playing music, interviewing some of the riders and organisers of the event and promoting the charity ride. Shortly before the motorcyclists set off there was live music from local musician Jake Owens, who entertained everyone with a few songs to get them in the mood for the ride, a 20 mile journey through Warrington town centre and then the villages of Grappenhall, Great Budworth and Wincham, before stopping off at the Lion Salt Works museum for refreshments.
Organisers of the charity ride, Phil Hesmondhalgh and Andria Jones said, “We didn’t know how many bikers would show up for the event, so we were really pleased to see so many people in attendance. We’re proud to support an amazing charity like PAPYRUS and hope we can grow the event in the future and raise even more funds for them next year.”
