FIRE caused extensive damage at a motor vehicle workshop at Warrington during the night.
The blaze was at premises in Ravenhurst Court, Birchwood and fire engines from Birchwood and Warrington were called to the scene.
Severe damage was caused in a first floor office area but fire crews managed to prevent the blaze spreading to the ground floor, where a number of vehicles were parked.
A spokesman said the ability of crews from Birchwood to reach the scene quickly had played a big part in restricting the damage caused.
Fire investigation teams are visiting the site today to try and establish the cause.
