STAFF from a top Warrington hotel have been learning how to make their venues more “green” by becoming more energy efficient, saving money and reducing their carbon emissions.
Workers from the Park Royal Hotel, Stretton, attended Positive Impact workshops which targeted a different topic over five sessions covering issues such as waste and food, energy and water, sustainable procurement, measuring carbon footprints and marketing new green credentials.
Employees from other visitor attractions across Cheshire were also at the workshops.
The workshops featured key speakers and case studies and were held at actual venues so that real life examples could be demonstrated.
David Horstead, acting chief executive of organisers Cheshire and Warrington Economic Alliance said: “Cheshire is well known for its beautiful country houses and top class hotels and venues. It’s important that they are part of the broader effort to reduce carbon emissions and become more sustainable.”
Joseph Thurgate, Positive Impact education planner said: “Over the last four years Positive Impact has delivered education on sustainability to the event industry across the UK. By working through this education together Cheshire and Warrington has created a unique and desirable venue offer for potential corporate and leisure visitors.”
The programme will be repeated in the spring and any venues, hotels or event management companies interested in attending can sign up at http://positiveimpactevents.co.uk/
