THE Broomfields Youth Project in Warrington is making a real difference in the lives of young people across the community. Offering a safe space to grow, learn, and connect, BYP is dedicated to empowering youth, helping them build confidence, develop key social skills, and support their emotional wellbeing.
This year, BYP is fortunate to have the continued support of Work to Live Financial Planning, a local business led by Ian. Their generous sponsorship has been instrumental in helping the project expand and provide even more opportunities for young people in the community. Ian and his team at Work to Live have been key partners in enabling BYP to offer crucial services and reach even more youth who can benefit from their programs.
Grace has joined the team as BYP’s Schools and Community Worker for the year as part of this exciting partnership. Grace’s appointment marks a significant step forward for the project. Her role is designed to bridge the gap between schools and the community, ensuring young people receive the support they need to navigate their emotional and social development. With her expertise, Grace will be helping strengthen relationships with local schools, providing tailored guidance, and further enhancing the impact of BYP’s work.
It’s thanks to the ongoing sponsorship from Work to Live that BYP can continue growing and providing essential programs like Choc n Chat, a popular hangout where students enjoy hot chocolate and informal conversations with youth workers. It’s a simple but effective way for students to unwind, share their thoughts, and build connections in a safe and friendly environment. The program takes place for Year 8 students on Tuesdays and Years 9-11 on Wednesdays.
Other engaging initiatives include the Friday Night Sessions, where young people gather for fun activities at The Shack and the Astro, offering a relaxed setting for making new friends and building community. BYP also hosts After-School Drop-ins at The Shack on Wednesdays, where students can enjoy snacks, chat with peers, and simply unwind after school.
In addition to these community-driven programs, BYP provides In-School Sessions for students at Bridgewater High School, including Rooted, HeadStrong, Anxiety, and Upbeat. These programs help students build emotional resilience, manage anxiety, and promote mental wellbeing in a supportive, group-based setting.
We’ve also learned that Grace’s appointment as the Schools and Community Worker is part of a wider effort to continue strengthening BYP’s ability to support local young people. It’s an exciting time for the project, especially with the partnership between BYP and Work to Live paving the way for more opportunities for youth development.
The continued success of BYP is a direct result of the dedication and support from businesses like Work to Live Financial Planning. Ian’s sponsorship and involvement in the project have ensured that BYP can expand its services, create more opportunities for young people, and provide much-needed support in the community. With Grace now in her role, BYP is well-equipped to continue its work, offering a place where young people can feel valued and ready to face the future with confidence.
As BYP continues to grow and evolve, the collaboration with Work to Live is a shining example of how community partnerships can make a lasting difference in the lives of young people.
