If my memory is correct, a poster from Australia touted an outstanding acting performance in this film and called it worthy of an award. There were a couple of echoes from other posters.

I just saw it last night and it was indeed a noble effort at film making and an excellent ensemble cast with memorable scenes. What struck me most while watching was: Hey!!! This is a German cast, a German film, German actors, re-enacting the last hellish days of the 1,000 year Reich. One of the main characters, balding or shaved head, could have been Dwight Eisenhower as a young man. Ike had roots there, huh? Maybe a cousin.

I’ve seen the bunker scene dozens of times with good actors, but this scene, this Fuhrer raised the bar for future actors. Well worth a look for history or political students.
