A WARRINGTON-based ex-military serviceman is starting a new and exciting career in the retail motor sector, thanks to an innovative partnership between the forces and Jardine Motors Group.
The two businesses have teamed up to offer an employment pathway for military personnel who, after leaving the services, are keen to offer their unique and transferrable skills to UK employers.
Warrington-based Richard Bolton is one of the first people to benefit from a partnership which is based on the RAF’s ‘Careers Transition Programme’ and has joined Jardine Motors Group’s Audi dealership in Warrington as a technician.
With seven years’ military experience working as a technician for the RAF in the UK, Malaysia, Oman and the Falkland Islands, Richard is now applying his engineering skills to ensure that the Audi cars he has responsibility for receive the highest standard of technical support as they undergo servicing or maintenance.
Richard comments: “I am delighted to have joined the Jardine Motors Group Audi dealership in Warrington. I am hoping to utilise the engineering knowledge and skills acquired working in the RAF and apply these to the private sector. I am grateful that the innovative partnership between the RAF and Jardine Motors Group has created this very exciting opportunity for me as I look to develop my career.”
The possibility of the role became apparent when Richard attended an Armed Forces Open Day hosted by Jardine Motors Group’s Audi Manchester dealership. He discovered that companies like Jardine Motors Group are keen to recruit staff from different backgrounds who can bring with them varied experiences and skills that can be applied in the expanding and dynamic motor retail sector.
As part of their commitment to ex-servicemen such as Richard, Jardine Motors Group will provide the support, training and coaching required to help him successfully transition into his new role. It’s a great fit, as Richard observes: “Whilst attending the Armed Forces Open Day, I quickly acknowledged the level of professionalism and innovation at Audi. I also noted that their values matched up with my own and were exactly what I was looking for in an employer.”
Richard now has a dream job working for a world famous brand ensuring that every Audi leaving his workshop has received the very best attention.
