Warrington Conservatives launch local election Manifesto

WARRINGTON’S Conservative candidates for the local elections this Thursday have six main points in their manifesto plan for Warrington, as well as local pledges where they wish to take the lead in additional Conservative initiatives.

The main pledges are:

1. Protecting Warrington’s Green Belt and urgently reviewing the Local Plan. The Labour Council wants to concrete over our lovely green spaces, but a Conservative-run WBC would build the homes we need on brownfield sites and ensure we have the right infrastructure to support local families too.

2. Re-surfacing Warrington’s roads and pavements and ensuring good transport infrastructure is a priority. Our roads and pavements are in a poor state, but we’ve made progress campaigning for work to be carried out. An extra £33.8m has been secured to fix potholes in Warrington.

3. Keeping Council Tax Low. Conservative Councillors have consistently voted against annual increases in Council Tax, we want to keep our taxes low. We’ll stop the wasting of money on diversity officers and focus spending on local services.

4. Tackling Labour’s £1.8 billion debt. We’ll bring an end to the reckless borrowing by Warrington Labour which has led to a £1.8bn debt to purchase an energy company that went bust, a bank, an oil company in Texas, and offices in Birmingham.

5. Better Council services to support the most vulnerable residents. We’ll make it easier to access community-based social care services for elderly residents. We’ll prioritise support for children with SEND and give all young people the best start in life.

6. Supporting the local economy to encourage investment in jobs, skills, and training. We’ll build on the UK Government’s support for the brand new Health and Social Care Academy at Warrington College, as well as the Advanced Construction Academy which will open shortly.

Over the last three years on Warrington Borough Council, it’s only been Conservative Councillors who have been holding Labour to account and leading campaigns in support of residents.
