TWO red flood warnings have been issued in Warrington after melting snow affected soaked land as river levels are rising.
The Environment Agency said on Monday afternoon that river levels remain high tonight but are expected to fall tomorrow.
Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the Sankey Brook, which was badly hit just a week ago.
Low-lying land and roads expected to be most affected are particularly around Chepstow Close, Colwyn Close, properties on and around Higham Avenue, Tavlin Avenue, Hodgkinson Avenue, Marshall Avenue, Hawleys Lane and Mullen Close.
The agency urged people to avoid using low-lying footpaths and bridges near local watercourses and don’t attempt to walk through flood water.
Another flood warning is in place for Sankey Brook at Gemini as flooding is forecast to affect locations off Europa Boulevard at Gemini Industrial Park.
Additional pressure operations are is at risk including parts of Fairbourne Close.
People are urged to take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through floodwater and to avoid use low-lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.
A separate flood alert has been issued for the River Sankey catchment with Warrington and St Helens.
On Monday afternoon, the Environment Agency said flooding is forecast near low-lying land and roads around Whittle Brook and tributaries.
People are urged to avoid using low-lying footpaths and any bridges and not to attempt to walk or drive through flood water.
A flood warning is also in place for the River Bollin and Agden near Lymm.
