Christmas community sing-along at Bents

CHRISTMAS is a time for traditions: presents under the tree, dinner on the table, visits to Father Christmas, but there’s one tradition that seems to have diminished slightly over the years, that of carol singing.

Bents Garden & Home is on a mission to keep it alive and on Wednesday December 12 the Glazebury based centre will be hosting a Community Sing-along. Supported by choirs from local churches, the Singalong is the chance for young and old to gather together and enjoy joining in with some festive favourites.

Carol singing is a tradition which dates back centuries and were sung to celebrate festivals and special occasions. Christmas was one such time and over the years the carols we sing have become more and more established and well known, and everyone will recognise some or all of the songs to be sung at the Community Sing-along.

It will provide a great opportunity to take a little bit of time out from the planning and the preparation, the present buying and the wrapping, to just enjoy the moment and release some endorphins. The event, which will be held in Bents’ Winter Food Market between 4 – 6pm, is sure to bring even more festive cheer as Christmas approaches.

And to add to the occasion, another festive favourite and proper taste of Christmas, mince pies, will be available for a donation to St Rocco’s Hospice, Bents’ Charity of the Year 2018.

Bents Winter Food Market will also be open, selling a delicious range of food including this year’s famous Yorkshire Pudding Wrap, sizzling sausages, mushroom sandwiches, vegan wraps and a selection of delicious sweet treats including hot chocolate with all the trimmings, crepes and cheesecake; making it the perfect place to dine with all members of the family after an evening of fun and song.
