WARRINGTON residents who have yet to show their support for the town’s bid to be a host town for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup are being urged to do so now.
The way to do so is to text “SUPPORT” to 63333 or sign up to the e-campaign at www.warrington.gov.uk/rugby
A recent report has forecast the economic benefit to the town of hosting the cup could be as much as £2.3 million.
Jan Souness, chairman of the team leading the bid said: “We are delighted that hundreds of people have already signed up to our e-campaign or texted their support for Warrington’s bid.
“But we really need more signatures to help make this dream a reality. That’s why we are calling on everyone who hasn’t backed the bid already to text their support or sign up to our e-campaign today.”
Andy Gatcliffe, Warrington Wolves’ chief executive, said: ‘We want RLWC games here at The Halliwell Jones Stadium in 2013 and every single person backing our borough bid will help us achieve this. So please do it now and encourage family members, friends and work colleagues to do likewise…..come on Warrington!’
