Algae worries
CONCERNS about algae at Stockton Heath beauty spot Ackers Pit have been dispelled.
Coun Marilyn Timmins told the parish council that she was concerned that algae had appeared on the surface of the water. But clerk Peter Briggs said the problem also occurred last year when the sun was shining on the surface. But it disappeared when the weather changed and it rained.

Special grant
STOCKTON Heath Parish Council has approved a grant of £100 to Warrington Association for Special Children. It will help provide play and leisure facilities for 78 children, aged five to 19, who have severe and profound learning difficulties.

Hospital lottery
FOUR winners shared the jackpot prize in the weekly lottery run by the League of Friends of Warrington Hospital – each receiving £115.50. A consolation prize of £25 was also paid out to a hospital visitor. The winning numbers were 2, 3, 7 and 11.

Carnival time
THIS year’s Birchwood Carnival will be held at Birchwood Forest Park on Sunday, June 13. Anyone interested in taking part should call 01925 824239.

Hospice boost
A WEEKEND of sailing, racing and raffles at Fiddler’s Ferry Sailing Club, near Warrington, raised £231 for
Claire House Children’s Hospice.
