A SERIES of private gardens in Warrington are opening to the public to raise funds for charity as part of the National Gardens Scheme.
The Lymm garden of Janet Bashforth at Mayfield, The Peppers, opens on Sunday April 25 from 12noon to 5pm, Saturday June 19, 12noon to 5pm, and Saturday July 10, from 7.30pm to 10pm.
Mr and Mrs J Carter, 68 Cranborne Avenue, Warrington, are opening their garden on Saturday July 3, from 11am to 6pm, and Sunday July 4, from 11am to 6pm.
Also taking part are Mr and Mrs D Beesley, Bluebell Cottage Gardens, Lodge Lane, Dutton, who will open their garden on Sunday April 25, from 10am to 5pm, and on Sunday August 8, from 10am to 5pm.
Gardens throughout the country are being opened to raise funds for eight charities including Macmillan Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Janet Bashforth said: “National Gardens Scheme has donated £27 million to charity in the last 10 years. Strangely, only 25 per cent of the population know about us and we are trying to widen our publicity to bring more people to visit.”
