Time to pull together!

I am sure many local business people are feeling the pinch in the tough economic climate which is not going to get any easier with the traditionally quiet school holidays upon us and the swine flu pandemic which is going to get worse before it gets better.
It is more important than ever that as a town we pull together and try and help each other through some of the toughest economic times ever known, although we have not been hit as hard as some of our friends in the media.
In my other role has Chief Executive at Warrington Town FC I know how tough it is to get people to part with money at the moment, although I am pleased to say that sponsorship is actually up on last season and season ticket sales have remained strong.
The new sponsorship deal with Warrington Collegiate is a major boost for the club and I hope the long term benefit will be local lads coming through the ranks and forging themselves a successful career on and off the pitch, learning new skills for life after football at the college.
I am convinced that a successful football team in Warrington, aligned to our neighbours at Warrington Wolves, who have themselves felt the pinch with their main kit supplier going into administration, will provide a major boost for the town.
I have seen first hand how visiting fans can have an impact on the local economy visiting local pubs, hotels and fast food outlets and a successful football club will help improve Warrington’s profile on the national map.
Here at warrington-worldwide we have taken steps to help local businesses with our special shop local feature ( see page 22) , providing affordable advertising.
There has never been a more important time for us all to work together to help get through these unprecedented times.
If you are one of the busininesses out there struggling drop me a line and we will see what we can do to help – but remember we are running a business as well!
