Young fan creates new club badge

WARRINGTON Town FC will proudly be wearing a new club badge on their shirts this season thanks to a design created by one of their young supporters.
University student Tom Greaves, aged 19, came up with the winning design after the club launched a competition to find a replacement club badge.
Tom’s creative design captured the club’s heritage and also includes part of the town’s iconic Golden Gates.
His eye catching design has won Tom a Vice President Package worth £500 for the forthcoming season, along with a replica first team shirt, an England shirt signed by three footballing legends and £100 cash.
A delighted Tom said: “Obviously I am delighted to have had my design selected – it’s going to be very exciting to see it used by the club and to see the players wearing it on their kit!
“My thought process on the design was that I wanted it to say something about Warrington at the same time as being unique to the club and with the outline of the Golden Gates and the Cheshire flag on there I think it says a lot about the area the club represents.
“I also wanted the club colours to be prominent and the badge to include the club’s year of foundation, which is important to our heritage but wasn’t included on our previous crest.
“I would like to thank Toby and the other directors for selecting the design.”
Club Chairman Toby Macormac, who judged the competition with fellow board members said: “We were looking for a fresh and simple approach that kept an icon of the Town whilst also acknowledging our County FA affiliation and Tom’s entry did just that!”
Tom’s winning design will feature on the club’s brand new home kit to be launched at the start of the season and gradually be phased in over the coming months to replace the old club crest.
