Why did the US Army occupy the Burtonwood Base?

WHY was the US Army at Burtonwood between 1967 and 1993?

Anyone who wants to know can find out by attending the RAF Burtonwood Association Zoom lecture on Monday, March 1.
The association’s Aldon Ferguson will be giving the lecture at 7pm and is promising answers to the many questions local people had at the time – and still have today.
What did the US Army do at Burtonwood? What part of the base did they occupy? Did they have weapons and ammunition? Did they have tunnels under the site?
Mr Ferguson will have the answers and people who attend will hear about the massive storage facility, the satellite bases, the ammunition storage, the hospital and medical storage, the thousands of vehicles and why the base had a marine fleet.
To join the association at the lecture, free of charge, email Mr Ferguson at [email protected] for the link
