THERE was a carnival atmosphere at the annual Thelwall Rose Queen Festival.
Local schoolgirl Zara Whittaker-Ive’s reign began as rose queen taking over from retiring Queen Kaysie Wright The crowning was performed by Mrs Wendy Platt from Laskey Farm
Among the procession were pupils, a lively Katumba band, and plenty of impressive floats.
A spokesperson from the organising committee said: “Thanks to everyone who came out, had a float in the procession, ran a stall, ran a stall, bought a cake or threw a coconut – the event only happens because you make it happen. So thank you.
“And thanks as always to all the helpers that beaver away from 8am and are still there long after everyone’s in the pub to set up and take down.
“Finally thanks to all the program sponsors, prize providers and to Chaigeley for the use of the field.”
The 8th annual scarecrow parade also took place throughout the village with voting for the best scarecrows online at https://www.thelwallrosequeen.org.uk/scarecrows
