School dining room extension to end overcrowding at meal times

BOROUGH Council planners have given the go-ahead for extensions to the dining room and kitchens at Warrington’s Oakwood Avenue Primary School.

The extensions, approved by members of the development management committee, will result in improved and increased internal space and an additional dining area to support the high number of pupils which currently result in overcrowding at meal times.
Most of the work is expected to be carried out during the summer holidays.

Oakwood Avenue Primary dates from around 1917 and three of its main buildings are Locally Listed.
However, the council’s conservation officer has raised no objection to the proposals, nor have there been any objections from local residents. The school has been altere or extended on a number of occasions in the past
The school currently caters for about 700 lunches.

Councillors approved the scheme after hearing it would have no harmful impact on the amenities of adjacent properties by way of loss of privacy and would not have any significant impact on visual amenity nor the highway network.
