New boilers will cut carbon-related emissions on industrial site

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a major development that should cut carbon-related emissions on a long-established industrial site.

The scheme for a new 28m x 30m building with a 35m chimney should also lead to reduced noise from the Baronet Works site.

Inside the building will be new steam boilers and associated equipment to provide site-wide steam for industrial use which will replace older, less efficient steam boilers which will be dismantled.
Documents submitted by Ingevity UK Ltd in support of the application say there is a need to increase energy efficiency in the borough to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change, to reduce pollution and impacts on air quality and give support to projects that can deliver more efficient and sustainable development.

The applicants claim the proposal will minimise energy-related carbon emissions.
Baronet Works has a reputation as a thriving and competitive industrial business location, and this will be enhanced through the development proposal, it is claimed.
The site will continue to be the focus for environmental improvements and investment by Ingevity that will attract further investment to Warrington, it is claimed.
