WARRINGTON town centre was sealed off following the discovery of a “suspicious package” in Sankey Street.
The package was found in the street near Holy Trinity Church.
Police closed off the area for a while but the cordon was lifted when it was discovered the object – a suitcase – was empty.
But police thanked a member of the public who had reported the issue

What kind of idiot leaves an empty suitcase lying in the street? Someone who thinks it’s funny to spark a possible terrorist alert? Heavier fines for litter dropping are needed.
Good to know that members of the public are being vigilant and security staff are responsive.
