Plan to convert garage into dwelling

A PLAN to convert an existing garage into a separate dwelling attached to a locally listed house at Walton is to be put to Warrington’s development management committee tomorrow (Wednesday).
Walton Parish Council is opposing the scheme on Walton Road on the grounds it would be overdevelopment of the site and out of character with the area and by a nearby resident who argues that provision of off-street parking is impractical.
But borough planning officers are recommending the scheme be approved.
The applicant, Mr Tony Mills, is seeking to convert the garage into a separate dwelling and also to rebuild an existing vinery to create a garden store and bike store.
Planners say the stone-built garage is a prominent feature on the street scene and one which positively adds to the character and appearance e of the area.
While there is space for two park two vehicles there is adequate space on-street in the vicinity  without creating residential disamenity or highway safety issues.
A structural survey has been carried out and conclude3d that the building can be carried out, subject to specified remedial works.
