Man charged with robbing pensioner

A MAN was appearing before magistrates today charged with a robbery at Warrington.
The 23-year-old was due to appear in court at Runcorn.
A 71-year-old woman was walking home from Warrington town centre on July 8 when she was approached from behind by a man who grabbed her handbag.
She initially kept hold of the bag and was dragged along the ground.
Eventually the man fled with the bag
The woman was taken to Warrington Hospital suffering from a fractured finger, a fractured toe, damage to the ligament in her left shoulder, a graze to her hip and swelling to the left wrist.
